Invitation to the Herd Protection Conference 2025

We cordially invite you to the LIFEstockProtect herd protection conference! This special event will take place from July 17-19, 2025 at the Kälberhof Moar in Gstein, Perchau am Sattel, Austria. Experienced practitioners from all over Europe who have been working with livestock protection measures for years will meet here and share valuable insights on successful strategies and challenges.

Why should you take part?

Benefit from the experience of experienced farmers, shepherds and flock protection experts who have tried and tested methods in use. Learn first-hand what works and what is less effective to best protect your flock. We expect over 200 participants to share their knowledge of effective conservation measures, sustainable pasture management and proven techniques.

The event takes place on a working farm that is home to 110 calves, 100 sheep and 8 Livestock guarding dogs. Here you can experience first-hand how modern herd protection measures are implemented in practice.

Program highlights

• Thursday & Friday (July 17-18): Field reports, best practices and discussions with experts.
• Saturday (July 19 – Public Day): A varied day of live demonstrations, interactive workshops and exciting exhibitions. Visitors can look forward to demonstrations of livestock guarding dogs, modern fencing solutions and the use of drones and robotic mowers. There will also be workshops on cheese production, sheep shearing, leather processing and sustainable pasture management as well as excursions to conservation measures on surrounding farms. There will also be an exciting hands-on program for children.

Catering & accommodation

During the conference, we offer free coffee breaks, lunch and dinner on the first two days. We attach great importance to regional, sustainable products. Alcoholic beverages can be purchased privately. If you have special dietary requirements, we recommend that you make prior arrangements with the caterer.

• Arrival by train: The nearest train stations are Scheifling and Judenburg, with shuttle services or cabs on site. There are direct train connections from Vienna Airport.
• Shuttle service: A free shuttle runs from the July 17, 18 and 19 between Perchau, Scheifling, Unzmarkt and Judenburg in the morning and after dinner.
