LIFEstockProtect competence centers: Regional centers for practical livestock protection

The LIFEstockProtect competence centers are regional contact points for effective and field-tested livestock protection in the Alpine regions of Austria, Bavaria and South Tyrol. They support farmers, shepherds and advisors with training, demonstrations and expert advice on all key herd protection measures.

The main focus of the competence centers is practice-oriented training directly in the field. The sites are located on active farms or mountain pastures and demonstrate the use of proven measures under real conditions:

• Professional installation and maintenance of electric safety fences,
• Keeping and integration of livestock guarding dogs,
• adapted pasture management in mountainous terrain,
• Emergency planning and risk minimization in conflict situations.

All training courses are tailored to regional conditions and enable direct application on your own farm. In addition, the competence centers offer space for exchange and further development: they network practitioners, promote knowledge transfer and contribute to the further development of robust, regionally viable livestock protection strategies.
