“Sintinella and her brave puppies” – a new children’s book about Livestock guarding dogs

This post is also available in: Deutsch Italiano

Following the specialist booklet on rearing and using livestock guarding dogs, a new booklet has now been published – especially for children and their parents who enjoy hiking or cycling in the mountains.

In Austria – an internationally renowned tourist destination – Livestock guarding dogs are increasingly returning to alpine farming. Their use is also increasing significantly in South Tyrol and Bavaria. More than 40 farms are already actively using this proven protection measure. Almost 30 dogs have now been certified by the Austrian Center Bear, Wolf, Lynx or are about to be certified.

Livestock guarding dogs are not a fad – they are part of a 2400-year-old tradition that has stood the test of time. In many areas, they are the only effective protection against predators such as wolves, bears, foxes, eagle owls, eagles, ravens and crows – and are therefore an indispensable component of sustainable pasture management.

The new children’s booklet explains in a simple and understandable way what important tasks these dogs perform, how they learn – and how to behave correctly when you meet them on the mountain pasture.

The German version is available now, and editions in other languages will follow in the next few days. The magazine can be downloaded free of charge as a PDF on this page.

Recommended for nature parks, national parks, tourism associations, hotels, schools, visitor centers and of course for families with children.
